A storm hits Iceland 1. desember 2014 10:30 Rescue workers. Flights in an out of Keflavik airport have been disrupted because of the storm that hit Iceland Sunday afternoon. Six flights expected to arrive from the United States this morning have been delayed and also six flights from Europe. Flights are expected to be back on schedule tomorrow. All domestic flights were cancelled yesterday afternoon. The wind has significantly reduced but it's still quite windy in the northen part of the country.Up to 350 rescue workers were working in the Southwest last night. Rescue workers were working until this morning in the North. Windows broke, doors and shacks blew up, containers and rooftops flew on cars and trees ripped up by the roots. The most stable wind measured in some places was 29 meters per second, which is considered extreme weather and sometimes the wind measured 50 meters per second by gust. It‘s expceted to be windy today although not as windy as yesterday. The wind in the capitol area and in the southwest will be around 10-18 m/s but 15-23 m/s in the northern part of the country.
