All content, materials, and databases made accessible on any website, domain, subdomain, or digital service operated by Sýn hf. (including, without limitation, visir.is, syn.is, bylgjan.is, and related URLs)—including news reports, articles, photographs, video recordings, audio broadcasts, podcasts, graphical layouts, and data compilations—are protected under the Icelandic Copyright Act No. 73/1972, the sui generis database right under Article 50 thereof, and international copyright conventions. All rights are strictly reserved by Sýn hf. and its third-party licensors.

Any automated, programmatic, or systematic retrieval, monitoring, harvesting, extraction, indexing, caching, or copying of content from Sýn hf.’s digital properties is strictly prohibited without prior express written authorization executed by an authorized representative of Sýn hf. This prohibition expressly applies to:

• The deployment or operation of automated software, including web scrapers, bots, robots, spiders, crawlers, harvesting tools, extraction scripts, or automated user agents.
• Any indexing, caching, parsing, or harvesting of domains, websites, or URLs associated with Sýn hf.
• The creation, acquisition, or use of test credentials, unauthorized login tokens, or technical circumvention methods to bypass authentication controls, paywalls, or subscription mechanisms. Any such circumvention constitutes unauthorized system access and an unlawful intrusion.

Pursuant to Article 4(3) of Directive (EU) 2019/790 of the European Parliament and of the Council on copyright and related rights in the Digital Single Market, and applicable national implementations within the European Economic Area, Sýn hf. expressly, unequivocally, and in a machine-readable format reserves all rights regarding text and data mining (TDM) for all works, content, and data accessible on its domains.

No statutory exception for general text and data mining shall apply to any content owned or hosted by Sýn hf. This reservation is declared textually herein and implemented mechanically via robots.txt directives, HTTP response headers, and HTML meta tags across all endpoints.

No content, text, data, audio, or media originating from Sýn hf. may be accessed, harvested, collected, reproduced, or processed for the purpose of:

• Training, retraining, fine-tuning, developing, evaluating, or validating any machine learning model, neural network, large language model (LLM), or artificial intelligence architecture.
• Developing, researching, improving, or maintaining commercial products, advertising systems, or synthetic generative services by third parties.
• Generating derivative works, conversational answers, or automated news aggregations intended to substitute for primary visits to Sýn hf.'s publications.

The presence of Sýn hf. profile accounts on social media platforms (including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, or other Meta Company Products), or the posting of hyperlinks pointing to Sýn hf. domains, does not grant any platform operator or third party any license, right of extraction, or right of exploitation over the target websites or underlying content.

Sýn hf. rejects any standard commercial term or unilateral policy asserting that maintaining a commercial presence on a platform constitutes consent to domain-wide crawling, scraping, or data mining.

Sýn hf. publishes material licensed from third parties, including international news syndicates (e.g., Reuters, AP), independent photojournalists, and sports rights holders (e.g., UEFA, Premier League). Sýn hf. possesses no legal authority to sub-license, transfer, or encumber such third-party rights. Any third-party commercial term purporting to extract or acquire licenses over such material via Sýn hf.'s accounts is null, void, and unenforceable under Article 8 of the Icelandic Copyright Act No. 73/1972 (nemo plus iuris).
